    Ingredients

    Ingredients for Christmas rice cake ornaments.
    • Rice cakes
    • Vanilla frosting or whipped cream cheese
    • M&M’s
    • Sprinkles, e.g. Christmas sprinkles, hundreds and thousands
    • Reese’s miniature peanut butter cups or liquorice strip: If using Reese's peanut butter cups, cut them into half. If using liquorice, cut it into 2-3cm (0.79 inches -1.18 inches) pieces.

    Instructions

    This recipe makes 4 rice cake ornaments for Christmas. The ingredients can easily be adjust to suit how many you may need to make.

    Preparing the Rice Cakes

    Step One: Spread the frosting or whipped cream cheese over a rice cake.

    Decorate the Rice Cakes

    Step Two: Place some M&M’s on top of the coated rice cake. Or, you could decorate with some sprinkles.

    When decorating your rice cakes, leave a bit of space at the top of the rice cake.

    This will be where you put the ornament topper (liquorice or Reese’s peanut butter cup).

    Make the Ornament Topper

    Step Three: Place a piece of cut liquorice on top of the rice cake.

    Alternatively, use a peanut cup that has been cut in half and place on the edge of the rice cake.

    Repeat for remaining ingredients.

    Tips for Success

    • These ornament Christmas rice cakes are best made just before serving. Otherwise, they will start to get soggy.
    • You may find the M&M’s bleed on the cream cheese (or frosting).
    • If you are working in hot temperatures, you may need to place your M&M’s and Reese’s peanut cups in the fridge before you start working.

    Storage

    Ingredients
      

    • 4 Rice cakes
    • 5 tablespoons (50 grams, 1.76 ounces) Vanilla frosting or whipped cream cheese
    • 2 tablespoons (40 grams, 1.41 ounces) M&M’s
    • 2 tablespoons Sprinkles e.g. Christmas sprinkles, hundreds and thousands
    • 4 Reese’s miniature peanut butter cups, or liquorice (15 grams, 0.53 ounces) cut into 2-3cm (0.79-1.18 inches) pieces

    Instructions

    • Spread the frosting or whipped cream cheese over a rice cake. (see note 1).

    Decorate the Rice Cakes
